Nexon is kind of endeavoring to make the core audiences feel being pushed around. Some players revealed that on December 24th, Nexon secretly launched a Christmas Eve - themed MapleStory 2 holiday gift, which was confirmed to be a Magic Sack, granting to the players who are only available for logging in the game and redeeming it within 24 hours. The authenticity of this news was soon affirmed by other participants and Nexon itself. Reportedly, Nexon didn't go public with this holiday gift event and more correlative details in advance, instead, there are signs that they attempted to keep this as a "secret mission" or "unexpected foray" to players.
"It was exceptional, undoubtedly," Jerry from Michigan, a veteran Maplers with 10-years experience of playing MapleStory franchise said, "there was almost at least one official announcement for every patch, upgrade, aspiration, event and anything else new to players that were hung in the MapleStory 2 official site before. But this time, there isn't single one message on the site about this new gift." Is this a slight negligence or an intentional scheme from Nexon and MapleStory 2 Devs? Let's hear what a Nexon internal staff have said about.
Below is the explanation exactly from a MapleStory 2 official forum moderator, named "Olujiwan":

As Art already stated, it's there to give a gift to those that log in during the event.
In general, events in any MMO are there to make it worthwhile for players to play that game during the event. Events during holidays are not just a way to show gratitude but also the developer trying to keep the community active and engaged during those times. And, as with any event, you'll need to participate to enjoy the rewards.
You likely won't be able to enjoy every event or receive every reward the game will offer (as is the nature of events), but I am convinced that no event hosted will give a significant advantage over other players without providing a fair window of opportunity for everyone to claim it.
Soon after this "explanation" published, Maplers gathered around and inferred Nexon's motivation and irrevocable impact on this abnormal Christmas giveaway event while others were whining about Nexon's contempt on themselves.
Sammich88 said in the topic, "This(The Giveaway Event) would only make sense to people who don't go out of town or spend the entire day at a family gathering. I'm aware that not all events are for everybody but this one specifically has a very small time window for such a big holiday."

Kewkky followed that up and added on "Agreed on the small time window, but I mean... Game companies want you to play their games, so if they can make an event to get you to play during a day you normally wouldn't, then they succeeded."
Soon afterward, ten or more viewers showed up and indicated that the event was badly designed and there was no announcement at all to be found detailing the redeeming procedure or gift contents whatsoever even they had logged in the game and been playing all day long. That means, due to Nexon's "operation in secrecy", the one-minute "get-the-gift" process was literally passing them by in their whole 12 or more hours gaming period even though they had been "luckily" free from the annual biggest family gathering and other distractions on this special day.
"That doesn't make sense at all" Jerry piled on, "The moderator specifically clarified that the gift event had been designed for 'those that log in during the event' and provided 'a fair window of opportunity for everyone to claim it', if that's the case, why they didn't manage to inform any logged-in players and the logged-off players simultaneously - Nexon seemingly hadn't thought the whole process through in the first place."
"The only plausible explanation to me is their 'Messengers' were taking one day or two off for the holiday while Nexon hastily decided to push out this holiday gift event. Except this, I can't see there are some other good excuses out there."
So far, We didn't receive or hear any further explanation from Nexon towards this issue yet.
