Path OF Exile Herald Of Agony Build Part One: How To Put Up The Most Strongest Defensive Build In The Game
Herald of Agony build is the creation crafted by a Twitch streamer named Nugiyen. The prototype of this build excises maximum block chances and now has been posted on the official website forum. What Nugiyen has done with that is managing to switch the block into pure defensive stats one the premise of keeping the core of the prototype. He has put up a powerhouse that is still able to clear content smoothly. Now let's probe into how he made it!
Before going too deep in the study, you should be aware that this build does NOT SUIT for newbies. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most expensive builds out there that most of the players consider the cost of it "rather prohibitive". In the meantime, this build is pretty elusive to set up. However, if you can prep up for all the currency and set it up properly, it has great possibilities to become one of the firmest defensive builds in the game. Perfect for those peculiarly deep delves!
The pricing of the prototype build is around 20 exalts. Almost all of this goes directly into a Zerphi's flask, which is essential for this build. The rest of the gear is optional, while the stuff Nugiyen putting on himself is pretty high-end.
The design concept of the defensive Herald of Agony build is to pile up as many defences as possible, without abandoning offence entirely. How can we make it? Through the use of the new Herald of Agony lackeys. Herald of Agony is a new Herald released in Path of Exile 3.4 patch. It features a built-in mechanic where it adds a stack whenever the character poisons an enemy. As long as you have at least one stack, you will be adhered by an immortal lackey to fight alongside you. The stacks go up to 40, and the lackey becomes stronger based on how many stacks you have.
The base damage of the Herald lackey is remarkably high and climbs up quite well with higher stacks. With a six-link Herald, it's quite easy to clear all map and boss content as well as doing harm to wise. You don't even have to scale your lackey damage high and be able to focus entirely on mitigation, all because of this.
Most of your defence fulfils the need of improving your maximum resistances far above what is normally possible. Usually, a character has an upper limit of 75% maximum elemental resistances, and the game is counterweighed around characters having this amount. This build focus on heightening this by a considerable amount.
By adopting Saffell's Frame you can increase your resists by 4%. Having each Purity at level 23 permits raising each of them by another 5% for you. These provide you with an 84% maximum resistance. Then you get another 10% to each by utilizing each type of flask, plus Divination Distillate. Although, you also have a 26% heightened flask effectiveness from the tree, so the 10% bonus moves up to 12%. These take you up to 96% to all maximum resistances. Since the game is counterweighted around you taking 25% of elemental damage, and you're taking 4%, you only take 16% of the elemental damage that an ordinary build would.
Since too much elemental damage is declined, the allocation doesn't add up only if converting physical damage taken into elemental. Adopting a Lightning Coil, Saffell's corruption, and Taste of Hate, you can convert 58% of your physical damage taken into elemental. This can be heightened up to 30% by putting on the right Watcher's eye. Nugiyen is using a Watcher's Eye with 115 additional conversions, raising it up to 69%. At 69% conversion, this indicates that you're featuring 42% of the physical damage that normal build does.
