Fortnite Has Been A Fertile Breeding Ground For Money Laundry And Illegal Scams Lately

Reportedly, There is a new method of laundering money on the dark web: Using V-bucks, the in-game currency of the massively popular game Fortnite: Battle Royale, as a perfectly plausible front.

According to an investigation by The Independent and research by Cybersecurity firm Sixgill, there are large amounts of discounted V-bucks being traded on a daily basis in black markets on the dark web.

The dark web specifically refers to a collection of websites that only exist on the encrypted network and cannot be found by traditional search engines or visited by using traditional browsers.

The dark web forms a small part of the deep web. The reason that the type of web tagged as dark is most of the contents those websites features are negative, poisoned, illegal and possibly endangered to the lives and assets of certain citizens and viewers in the real world.

Unfortunately, there is some evidence on social media platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter, showing that the money laundering business has transmitted to the open web, albeit on a smaller scale.

The investigation exposed that V-bucks in large quantities from the official Fortnite store was purchased by stolen credit cards. The cybercriminals are then able to "clean" the money by selling the V-bucks a discounted rate to players.

Benjamin Preminger, a senior intelligence analyst at Sixgill, told the Independent that Criminals has been executing card fraud and get money in and out of Fortnite system with relative impunity.

Preminger also indicated that cybercriminals have been fully exploiting the ineffective security measures employed by Fortnite developer Epic Games because "the company doesn't seem to care about players defrauding the system and purchasing discounted V-bucks."

Epic Games raked in $3 billion in profit last year, largely on account of Fortnite's overwhelming success. However, there is no way to track down the exact figures of profits that cybercriminals have made for exploiting the game. A lot of cunning outlaws might cream off big profits and grew fat on laundering secretively, at a guess.

This was not the first instance that Fortnite has been maliciously used for illegal business. A separate study by IT security firm Zerofox found 53 thousand cases of online scams involving the game.

“While completely stopping such criminal activity is extremely difficult, several steps could be taken to mitigate the phenomenon, including monitoring the transfer of high-value goods in the game, identifying players with large stockpiles of V-bucks, and sharing data with relevant law enforcement agencies,” said Preminger.

However, the security expert believes that Epic Games is not doing enough to prevent illegal activity done through its game, which is further necessitated by the fact it is so popular.

“Epic Games doesn’t seem to clamp down in any serious way on criminal activity surrounding Fortnite, money laundering or otherwise,” Preminger added.

MapleStory 2: Why Does Nexon Try To Exclude Itself From Being Endearing?

As it launched the first expansion called Skybound and inaugurate another battlefield hovering over the sky, MapleStory 2, the sequel of widely praised MapleStory, was announcing and celebrating its two-month-release gala with the Maplers that have been supporting and caring for the game. It's not been so smooth on the path of running MapleStory 2 as Nexon expected since its premiere on October 10. Compared to its predecessor MapleStory as a worldwide megahit back in the 2000s, MapleStory 2 is now confronting the ever-decreasing concurrent players, as well as loss of tremendous nostalgic fanbase. Admittedly, MapleStory 2 had a good run in the very beginning though as its highlights and creativity were rapidly strangled with several chronic diseases sprawling all over the game afterward, such as Meso seller, UGC theft, the absurd level of RNG and correlative complaints... The game now has so many calamities to be dealt with that even if some new contents with intentionally headline...

Respawn Is “Disappointed” That Apex Legends Fans Aren’t As Horny As Overwatch’s

Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella has delivered a stinging rebuke to fans of Apex Legends, saying that he “expected more porn by now.” With both games featuring a strong character-driven roster of heroes, the comparisons between Apex Legends and Overwatch have been raised ever since Respawn’s new game first launched. However, according to Zampella, one major difference is that Overwatch fans are “insatiably horny.” “Our audience has delivered in nearly every way,” Zampella said. “They’re dedicated. They’re intelligent. They’re giving us great feedback. I just wish they would hurry up and draw Lifeline and Mirage doing it, or something. “The Overwatch community is crazy horny. Just so, incredibly horny. All I’m saying is that it would make all of us here at Respawn feel appreciated if we could see some fan art of Pathfinder railing another Pathfinder on a couch.” After a brief, uncomfortable pause, he added: “Just brainstorming here…” It’s no secret that Overwatch has ma...

MapleStory 2 Unprecedented Self-correction: A Bit Late Yet Still Better Than Never

The bombshell that was dropped from Nexon, the developer of MapleStory franchise earlier today was rather unprecedented and infusive. After having been downplaying the pile of MapleStory 2's detrimental mechanics and its highly controversial contents and neglecting of their endangerments to its community and its fanbase, Nexon finally picked itself up again and made up its own mind to bite the bullet in order to avoid the further loss of the game's active players. A fresh project named "New Leaf", which was created by MapleStory 2 devs and already owned a themed website page, officially go live by now. Project New Leaf is designed to address all the most-concerned and troublesome issues from MapleStory 2 that basically have haunted the game for a long period, or from the very beginning, such as RNG, Progression issues, Fairfight system, Meso Trades, and so on. Considering MapleStory 2 developers initially belittled the size of these issues and ignored most of t...
