Fortnite Addiction Has Been Damaging Family Harmony And Breaking Kids Down

fortnite ios

According to a recent research pulled by Bloomberg piece, Epic games Fortnite is so addictive that obsessed kids are sent to video-game rehab centers by their own parents, marriages are falling apart and the deficiencies of humans to dominate their brain's pleasure centers and go on a life of reliable moderation is being exposed. The article lay stress on a few families complaining about their incapacity to moderate their children and marriages.

For a certain group of people who have been obsessed with numerous substances and lifestyle choices, this all seems more like balderdash. Without downplaying the real-world impact of being addicted to something, video game addiction, especially in children, has always seemed like a failing in proper parenting rather than something to blame on the game itself.

If anything, Epic Games should be proud that the game makes its way to let so many lack-of-moderation kids falling for the fairytale-knitted imaginary world.

Fortnite isn't drug

Psychologists and behavioral specialists are assimilating the game to heroin, yet surely cashing the therapy checks. People who manage addiction camps or rehab centers are urging kids to keep good hours, eat healthily, and most importantly, shake off their devices, yet would not have a business without the addiction. I am not trying to defend the point of view that being addicted to video games is a good thing. It's certainly not a new thing, but paired with smartphones and a society that is incessantly online or in-app, it can be detrimental to children.

However, it's a video game. Fortnite is not a street drug; it's something that parents can regulate and find a way to deal with, not the narcs' job or DEA's duty. There is no doubt that some may claim they are incapable of controlling or resolving the matter because they reckon their kids' behavior is getting out of their hands and an attempt to restrain device use is a strange suggestion that slips away from their brains.

Fortnite is free to play and inspires competition in smaller groups, therefore it’s harder to kick the habit than most video games. While my kids will walk away from the Xbox when I tell them to, without argument, most parents never laid the groundwork for raising kids that don’t argue with their parents best judgment. I’m not totally blaming parents for Fortnite addiction, but I’m laying a good heap of it at their feet.

Parents can do more

One parent in the Bloomberg article lamented their child spending 12 hours a day playing the game and falling asleep in class the next day. Solution — smash the Xbox. Take away his smartphone and give him a flip phone. He’ll whine, throw a fit, but he’ll detox in a week and get over it. But so many parents want to keep their little babies happy and as my mom says, “bend over backward” to accommodate them.

Video game addiction is not new. No addiction is. People have been addicted since Atari. Sure, smartphones have added an extra layer to all of this, but kids are being born and raised in an era where a good portion of our daily, functional lives are tied to our phones.

It’s the job of the parent to properly guide our children’s psychological growth within the confines of the technology that controls our world. If that means deleting Fortnite and screwing Epic Games out of a couple bucks of extra revenue in exchange for the mental health of your child, so be it.

Frankly, the real key here is how good your child is at Fortnite. With it being the most popular game on Twitch, it’s possible that your child might be a gaming prodigy and open to making a ton of money. Chances are though, like most of the Fortnite playing population, they are moderate at best. Best case scenario, they suck at the game like me, so quitting shouldn’t be too difficult. Rage quitting is still quitting.

MapleStory 2 Enchant Changes And 64-Bit Client: The Misgivings About Fixing The In-game Progression Issues Still Exist

MapleStory 2 Project New Leaf got its latest sequel published. This one is about Enchantment changes and 64-bit client. As the third unveiled portion of the reputed "Progression Improvement Update" which tentatively would be launched on the 25th of this month, this major improvement will allegedly save much more cost of enchanting than any updates did before and thusly ease player's progression path.  Progression Improvement Update is considered as the second major update that the developers plan on bringing up into MapleStory 2, right behind the Economy Improvement Update which mostly features resolving MapleStory 2 Mesos ' issues. Enchantment Changes are reportedly concerned with two NPCs who help players enchant their equipment in the game, mostly. Those two NPCs are known as Ophelia and Peachy. In most cases, the post written about Enchant Changes was talking about how to make a difference to the current Peachy's enchants, due to its being priced out of th

The Elder Scrolls: Blades Tops The App Store In Its First Week On iOS

Bethesda’s mobile action-RPG tops the App store with one million downloads following its early access launch. Announced at E3 2018, The Elder Scrolls: Blades went live on iOS and Android last week for players who had signed up for early access, and has already been downloaded by more than one million users in its first seven days, and has already made almost $500,000 in revenue. Sensor Tower reports that the game is at No.1 in the download charts, with 42% (420,000) of downloads coming from the US. US players also accounted for 76% of spending, totalling around $380,000. This data is only for iOS, so total downloads are likely to be a fair bit higher. The game is free-to-play, but contains in-app purchases to hasten player progress, including Silver Chests that hold gold and items, like equipment, supplies, and materials. The Elder Scrolls: Blades received an update this week to iron out a few kinks, with Bethesda promising further balance tweaks, specifically for the Silver Chest.
